It’s officially Pride Month! To celebrate, here’s our favourite creative marketing campaigns celebrating Pride:
#1 Skittles – Give the Rainbow. Taste the Rainbow.
Whilst most Pride campaigns and products are full of colours, the sweet brand Skittles decided to go for a slightly different approach: In a limited Edition packaging, the brand gave up its iconic rainbow for pride and removed all colour from the packaging and product – leaving a plain white bag with white skittles inside.
Because ‘during Pride, only one rainbow matters’. A great and inspiring campaign!
#2 HBSC – With Pride
In this documentary-style ad, HSBC interviews two men with very different Pride experiences: Andrew Lumsden, 75, an activist who attended the first Pride march in 1972 and Jamie Raines, 23, a transgender postgraduate student who attended Pride for the first time in 2016. The emotional and extremely interesting film looks at the progress that has been made and the changes within society since the first Pride, but also questions what still needs to be done for LGBT+ rights. An extremely well executed ad!
#3 British Army – Pride Camo
‘Camouflage creams is for hiding. For trying to blend in. But Pride is for standing out. Standing up and standing proud.’, said the British Army when they handed out a special edition Pride camouflage cream in the colours of the rainbow in 2017. The campaign aimed to celebrate their LGBTQ+ soldiers and demonstrate the diversity encouraged in the Armed Forces. And we think that’s great!
#4 Microsoft – What actions will you take?
Actions speak louder than words! This year’s Microsoft Pride Campaign is all about the action that employees and customers are taking to advance inclusion. The company’s GLEAM (Global LGBTQ+ and Allies at Microsoft) developed products to create visibility for the LGBTQ+ community, including Limited Edition button designs, surface type covers and even special-edition themes of Windows 10, Bing, Microsoft Office, Xbox and Skype! But that’s not all. The company also donated $100,000 to non-profit organisations in Australia, Canada, the US and the United Kingdom to celebrate and support their work on LGBTQ+ equality. Amazing!
