Endless sandy beaches, brilliant shopping destinations, stunning hotels, luscious forests… Just a few of the many reasons that Bournemouth rocks!

Bournemouth-based marketing agency, CuCo Creative, got their creative juices flowing earlier this year and generated national recognition for the beautiful seaside town of Bournemouth.

CuCo’s design for Bournemouth’s 2013 Holidays and Short Breaks Guide was chosen out of hundreds of other destination brochures as ‘Best Brochure Cover of the Year’ at The 2013 Carrier Direct Marketing and British Destination Awards.

The Bournemouth Short Breaks & Holiday Guide is the main marketing literature for the town and is full of information to help tourists enjoy their stay throughout the year, with details of local accommodation, restaurants and tourist attractions.

Oddny Edwards, CuCo’s Marketing Manager commented that: ‘CuCo have been working with Bournemouth Tourism since our formation and were incredibly excited when we won an extremely competitive national pitch to do the project.  With CuCo being based in Bournemouth, we are hugely attached to the local area and recognised the level of responsibility involved in designing the face of Bournemouth for 2013.  To then get our work recognised with a national award… well it was the icing on the cake!

CuCo’s overall design concept was created to capture nostalgic beach holidays of the past, to try and replicate how Bournemouth’s history has blended with modern ways.  The bunting, postcards, pastel colours and photo-booth strip photos all help give a feeling harking back to heyday of UK beach holidays in the 50′s and 60′s.

The judges commented: ‘The Bournemouth brochure has a striking image that really draws you in, quite different to the vast majority of other guide covers.  It had the look of a modern magazine and a quality holiday company’s brochure.  Overall, a very strong selling message.’

But that’s not all!  The Brochure was also shortlisted for the award of ‘Best Brochure Cover 2013’ by Bitesize Britain, ultimately being voted runner up out of 60 nation-wide destination brochures, and narrowly missing out to the Isle of Wight’s entry.  This was the first time Bournemouth had ever made it to the top 10!

Bournemouth Tourism said ‘We are delighted to have the brochure design recognised by Bitesize Britain. The design of the 2013 Bournemouth Holidays and Short Breaks Guide is bright, fun and fresh, reflecting the character of the town.’

Oddny commented: Working with the sunny, beach photos did make us all crave summer sun and flip-flops! However it also reminded us how much there is still available in Bournemouth regardless of budget or time of year.’
