It’s been a busy Spring here in the CuCo studio helping our destination and attraction clients prepare for their Summer 2019 adversing campaigns.

This year, CuCo’s long-term client Lakes Aquarium required a fresh new creative for their 2019 Destination Leaflet.

Lakes Aquarium, based in the Lake District alongside world-famous Lake Windermere, gives guests the opportunity to experience over 30 displays of the fascinating, and often secret, world of wildlife and freshwater creatures dwelling in and alongside Lake Windermere’s magnificent waters.

The Aquarium is part of the Parques Reuindos group, one of the world’s leading global operators of regional leisure parks and one of only three truly global leisure park operations.

CuCo’s previous Destination Leaflet for Lakes Aquarium (below) encouraged visitors to ‘dive in and explore.’ It was in this 2017 version of the DL that we began to integrate a fresh illustrated style into the fauna and used bright colours and created-led imagery to grab attention and encourage visits to this very special aquarium.

However, 2019 has seen a totally fresh new creative splashed across the DL. CuCo have created an all-new illustrated design for use across the whole leaflet.

The front cover leads with two illustrated otters, as well as the iconic Windermere Lake Cruise and Steam Train, showing just how much is on offer at this much-loved attraction.

The creative as a whole focuses on an illustrated Lake Windermere.

Lakes Aquarium boats Britain’s largest collection of freshwater fish so it was important to fill the DL with illustrated fish of all shapes, sizes and colours, including seahorses, crabs, pufferfish and starfish, alongside photography of the creatures who live at the aquarium.

Below the surface of the lake we see seahorses, crabs and fish. Moving upwards towards the surface of the lake we illustrated rocks on which crabs, starfish and otters reside, with waves, a floating bird and a small sail boat, as well as the larger Windermere Lake Cruise in pride of place on the front cover of the leaflet. At the top of the leaflet we chose to feature the lush, green Lake District, with trees and the iconic Steam Train.

Key displays in the aquarium are highlighted in a fun, bold, colourful typography style, including ‘Waters of the World’ and ‘Morecambe Bay.’

The 2019 creative design has given the attraction the fresh look and feel they were looking for and is being used by CuCo to produce a mixture of marketing materials for Lakes Aquarium, including press advertising, which will help to attract new visitors this year.
