The Pantone Colour of the Year 2019 has been announced! PANTONE 16-1546 ‘Living Coral’ is a vibrant, energising, yet calming warm and comforting colour – and the latest trend for 2019.
For more than 20 years, Pantone’s Colour Institute has influenced the development and purchasing decisions of fashion, industrial design, packaging, home furnishings and graphic designs with its Pantone Colour of the Year.
It requires a great extent of research and trend analysis to select the Colour of the Year. Influences stem from various factors, such as all areas of design, the entertainment industry, fashion as well as popular travel destinations, lifestyles, new technologies, social media and even socio-economic conditions.
After extensive research, the Pantone Colour Institute came to the conclusion that “with consumers craving human interaction and social connection, the humanising and heartening qualities displayed by convivial PANTONE Living Coral hit a responsive chord”.
The name Living Coral also reflects on the issue of increasing dead corals due to warming seas.
In contrast to 2018’s provocative and bold Ultra Violet, the warming coral tone reflects joy, life as well as society’s need for optimism.
The colour promises a positive outlook for 2019 and has already been spotted in fashion shows, product designs and on social media – and we can’t wait to see more of this amazing coral hue!
