Branding an award-winning historical attraction and country wedding venue

The Brief

Athelhampton House & Gardens is a spectacular 15th century manor house and estate five miles east of the Dorset town of Dorchester. Athelhampton House provides an excellent historical experience and is a great day out for all the family. The manor house also makes a dream venue for those looking to celebrate their special day in Dorset.

The estate approached CuCo with the requirements of a complete brand overhaul so to reposition themselves in the competitive tourism market. A long term goal would be to help increase visitor footfall and online bookings, as well as increase the number of wedding enquiries.

The Solution

The creative team drew on the stunning architecture that Athelhampton House boasts along with the iconic clipped yew trees, to create a new brand identity that offers an accurate historic overview with a contemporary twist.

With a brand identity in place we looked to develop the branding and implement a new creative look across all marketing collateral, including a guidebook, brochure, on and offline advertising, menus, stationery and various other marketing literature for the popular Dorset tourist attraction. The brand would also be rolled out across an all-new WordPress driven CMS website, designed and built by CuCo's digital team.

Additionally, Athelhampton House commissioned CuCo to produce the definitive guide to its prestigious wedding and reception facilities. ‘Exquisite Weddings’ is an elegant 16-page brochure that perfectly captures the classic atmosphere and appeal of the 15th century Wessex manor. CuCo used black and white photography with use of a gold pantone colour to really showcase the stunning location, so to ensure the print finish created a high-quality brochure to match the venue and its service.

Results

The new branding for Athelhampton House & Gardens has helped transform the business as a tourism attraction, with the house and gardens now firmly established among Dorset’s top visitor destinations, listed as #2 of the 33 best things to do in Dorchester.

Athelhampton Weddings saw an immediate increase in bookings under the new brand look. The new marketing literature raised the bar in terms of quality, helping justify the value of the venue, whilst also supporting an increase in sales conversion per enquiry.

CuCo were also extremely proud to receive a Design Firm Graphic Design Award for our branding work.
