I don’t think it’s “Kraken,” anyways. Always heard it said “kray-kin”.

Recently launched black rum brand Kraken kicks off with a series of online films which explore the mythology of the Kraken, using a nice illustrative style and a little bit of humour.

To promote that fact that CNN Turk in Istanbul claim to have a 99% accurate weather report, we see three executions: “Lightning”, “Meadow” and “Clouds”. Each one features a vertical strip which covers 1% of the image.

CERCA, Children and Adolescents Center in Brazil, (Centro de Referencia da Crianca e Adolescente) presents a new print advertising campaign reminding us of the impact of words on young people. “Hematoma” e “Sangue” show tiny words, gathered together, appearing on the faces of a boy with a bleeding nose and a girl with a brusied black eye. The Portuguese words, “Palavras também machucam”, are translated as “Words Hurt Too. Any kind of violence against children is a crime. To report call (11) 3115.6119″

The grass is always greener

Internet provider Terra in Brazil has been promoting its online tourism portal with an observation based on the concept, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. “Routine sucks” is on the minds of men who wish they were somewhere else, on the snow, on the beach, in the country or in the city. The ads lead to Terra Brazil’s tourism portal, www.terra.com.br/turismo.

colours everywhere

Sony is continuing a successful print campaign from 2007, tying the familiar Sony Bravia tag line, “Color Like No Other”, with the names of movies. Monocolor screens spell out Woody Allen’s 1985 film The Purple of Cairo, Joy Dietrich’s 2007 film Tie a Yellow Ribbon, and John McTiernan’s 1990 film Red October. The earlier ads featured Blue Lagoon (1949 and 1980), Blake Edwards’ 1963 film The Pink Panther and Frank Darabont’s 1999 film Green Mile.
