Heinz Mayo – AMV BBDO
The ad has been removed from our screens after only 202 complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority. Well what a shame, I thought that the ad was clever and funny – it made me chuckle every time I say it. Even Stonewall was also offended by the advertisement and urged gay consumers to stop buying Heinz products.
The ad isn’t about two gay men, the mother is just appearing to the watcher as a deli man because of the product she has been preparing everyones lunch with, hence the reference to her as mum. With some ads you just need to read between the lines to see the real meaning – don’t judge a book by its cover.
The Guardian covers the story and tells us that:
The TV advert is the first by Heinz’s new ad agency AMV BBDO since it won the £10m-a-year UK business last year. AMV BBDO said that the concept behind the campaign is that the product tastes so good, “it’s as if you have your own New York deli man in your kitchen”.
I say bring it back, there is even a Facebook group urging Heinz to do so.

Trekinetic Wheelchairs – Ogilvy
Great ambient ad produced by Ogilvy for a company producing all-terrain wheelchairs called Trekinetic. These are just simple stickers that have been placing over the existing disabled toilet sign. Simple yet very effective.
